Summer is here as so is the busy season of Cowboy Mounted Shooting. Our first three matches are behind us but many more to come.
 
• Summer Range in Big Bear July 20-21 is always a favorite, with camping under the pine trees and those great pot luck dinners.
• Pismo Beach Bash August 17-18 will be a first time venue and looks to be one of the best matches of the year with a full equestrian center, a club house with hot showers and trail riding on the beach and in the ocean.
• California State Championships are coming September 7-8 in Simi. This will be a triple Points Match with some great entertainment at night along with a catered BBQ dinner by Dakotas Bar-B-Q Steakhouse.
• Los Angeles County Fair Sept 14-15, 22nd for Pot Shoot Nights at the Fair!!!  We are working the idea of Team Championships at the Fair too. We’ll keep you updated as things progress.


New Rider Orientation workshops by Victor Penner and practices at the Conejo Equestrian center have been going well. We had over 20 new riders at the last seminar with over 35 at the practice. We are looking at a few new venues for practice and the New Rider Workshops. We had 15 new members join the Desperados this month alone. If you feel you would like to have one in your area contact us for details and we can hold one in your area or for your group too. We are also going to include safety demonstrations and gun proper gun handling in the new rider workshops.

General Memberships Meetings
We will begin holding monthly General Memberships meetings starting July 16 and continuing on August 5 and Sept 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Thousand Oaks Library meeting room 1401 Janss Road in Thousand Oaks. This is open to all members to discuss upcoming events, sponsorship, and recruitment, share ideas and make suggestions but mostly to give an opportunity for everyone to get involved in their club. Bring your favorite video clip too!
