Hay Desperados,
I have some good news and some
bad news.
The good news is that we had
TWENTY
NEW RIDERS Sunday at our workshop/practice/jackpot.
The bad news is that we had TWENTY
NEW RIDERS Sunday at our workshop/practice/jackpot.
Normally if we get five new riders
we think it was a big day. The problem with TWENTY
NEW RIDERS is, it took so long to get through
the practice to the jackpot that a few of us (myself included) had to leave
before the jackpot even started.
Next time we schedule this type
of event we will utilize a second arena for the new rider work shop and
run the practice/jackpot in the main arena, that should stream line things
considerably. Thank you to the experienced riders for your patience,
and sorry for the inconvenience.
Back to the good news, TWENTY
NEW RIDERS, WOW! First, thanks to Joe
and Ron for organizing and promoting this event. K-HAY
radio announced the event all week prior and Charlye Parker a
morning DJ came out to give it a try. From the smile on her face
I’d say she thought Sundance was the best mounted shooting horse ever (Sundance
carried several new riders as well as Charlye and Mary Gallien).

Shawn Parr, a DJ from K-ZLA
radio also came out for a little fun. On his first run he did
so well (on Alaska) that I told him on his next run every missed balloon
was a five-dollar donation into our ST.
JUDES CHILDRENS RESEARCH HOSPITAL charity bucket (I was teasing).
After his run and with a big ol’ grin on his face, he was over there payin'
up for those misses. Shawn showed a lot of class and cowboy spirit,
my hats off to you Shawn.

Next I need to thank the TWENTY
NEW RIDERS and all those who helped.
Gillian for announcing. Barb and Joy for registration, handling hundreds
of questions and keeping us on track. Anthony and Ron for shooting
the blanks while new horses acclimated to the noise and then safety riding.
Larry and Craig for safety riding. Tyler for running the gate and the balloon
setters for doing a great job. Rob, Jack, Joe, and Bev
for helping outside the arena making sure every thing went as smooth as
possible. There were so many people that I’m sure I’ve missed a few
so thanks to every one for your help and patience. I’m sure next
time our practice/jackpot will go much quicker.
Your friend,
Victor
