Diary Entry 03/2001

Howdy From the Doolin's! I hope you're enjoying March and here's what were up to for April, but first here's alittle Doolin history...

In 1788, four brothers left County Cork, Ireland headed for the United States. Landing in Georgia they headed for the wilderness and settled in the Kentucky area. William Doolin, born in 1768, is my great+++grandfather. John Doolin, William's older brother, is the great grandfather of the King of the Oklahoma Outlaws... Wild Bill Doolin. When I was a young pup and would visit in Indiana at family Doolin Reunions, my Great Aunt's and Uncle's would tell me stories about the outlaw cousin Wild Bill Doolin. I noticed when I read stories that were printed years ago, they also refered to him as Wild Bill Doolin. I hope you enjoy this little tidbit.

March 31st and April 1st, the Roger's family will be holding an auction, at Roy and Dale's home in Apple Valley. There will be over 3,000 items up for bid. There will be a $100.00 donation to the Museum, to be able to  attend and bid. For more information contact the Roy Roger's and Dale Evan's Museum.

Well I'm getting a little tired of not being in the saddle, so on April 21st and 22nd we will be riding the great Bitter End Shootout. This event is a CMSA world point qualifier held at A-Bar Ranch in Norco, a great facility that Lil' Casino found. Plenty of dry camping onsite. water is available. There will also be stalls available, and they'll even feed for ya, for a small fee. For more information contact the infamous James Butler (909) 361-3482.

Now this is one big event of the year, put on by the Wild SASS Bunch, and I'm sure you've all heard about it if not already attended it. On April 25th - 29th, the annual cowboy competition and celebration at End of Trail will be held. Many of us Desperado's will be shooting in the match and participating in the Wild West Show. Roger Sherman, the trail boss in charge of the show, has honored a few of us to participate. As we have seen in the past, he puts on a great show! If you are a Desperado or want to join our gang or just hear some tall-tales, you can find us at the The Victorian Traveler tent. Lots of vendors, lots to do, the largest Old West Adventure in the world, so you'd better be there!

If you know of anthing of interest to our gang, just contact me atdoolin@family-network.net

Now go clean your guns............
