Diary
Entry 02/2001
Now,
let me tell you a little story...after riding with the Dalton's (losin
them in Coffeyville) I started the Doolin Gang. After old Marshall Tilgman
chased me for five years, most of the gang was gone. Now that picture you
see of me all shot to pieces is a phony. Look's real good huh?
Thought
of as dead I ran off to California and waited for the statue of limitations
to run out on my past crimes. Having my hand in starting a new gang The
California Desperados back in 18-1995. I now take on the task of keeping
all you folks informed of our hang outs, where we're riding next and our
exploits as they become history for all to remember.
Now,
this past January, the leaders of the gang met and we hashed over the bad
and cleaned our guns. Now polished and fine tuned we were ready to ride
into this new year..and how will we ride? Well, we showed those Arizona
boys just how for the second year in a row at The
Border States Challenge. I can't say much more about it since I could
not be there, but that trophy displays nicely in Lil' Casino's living room.
Well...to
update you, we won't be riding in March as the Desperado's, but we will
be teaming up with other riders at the Festival
of the West in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 17th and 18th. I highly
recommend you show up for this one, especially if you're an Irishman for
St. Patrick's Day celebration. A lot of vendors will be there, you'll meet
some old "B" Western Stars, and a great Mounted
Shoot hosted by the Arizona bunch.
On
March 24th and 25th we will be hanging out at the 4th annual Roy
Rogers and Dale Evans Film Festival at the Victorville Mall. I have
attended the past 3 years, Dusty Rogers and Dutch have put together each
year some great selections of movies. There is nothing like seeing Roy
and Dale on the big screen, kids in the audience with their cap guns blazing,
and cheering Roy at the capture of the bad guys.
There
will also be silent and live auctions of great items that will benefit
the Happy Trails Children's Foundation. You'll be sorry if you miss this
one...for more info feel free to contact me at (760-868-4016).
We
will also be at the Cowboy
Poetry and Music Festival at Melody
Ranch Studios in Santa Clarita March 29th thru April 1st. This is the
movie set where films like High Noon and the Televison Series Magnificent
Seven were filmed. They are still making films there, so this is the only
time of the year you can walk through this great old west movie set.
If
all the shows are not sold out (good luck) try to attend one or two or
three. If you can't you can still enjoy all the great vendors and there
are some free shows or just enjoy the set. Come in your old west garb but
no guns on this trip! Make sure you stop by The
Victorian Traveler tent and say hello to Kathy & Jerry, the proprietors.
They make and sell great handmade carpetbags and are a fond hangout for
Desperados. For tickets or information call the event hotline at (800)
305-0755 or the Festival Office at (661-286-4021).
Well,
that's it for now..........
