Message from the President

Gentleman Joe Whiteley - President  01/01/08

To All California Desperados,

I would like to express my appreciation to all the Board Members, our scorekeepers, volunteers and all you die hard club members who have supported your club this past year. You make the club what it is.

The California Desperados has had its ups and downs this last year. High gas prices hurts our sport  but we are doing our best to keep costs down but the club does have it share of monthly expenses like the website, water meter, arena maintenance, Rundown ads, insurance, equipment etc. We must all pitch in and help out, this means coming out and supporting “your club” by attending practices and matches. We would like everyone to get involved this year and help to grow the club. More members help keep the costs down and promote more competition at matches. You can help by placing our flyers and posters in your local feed & tack stores, western stores etc. We have them, just ask for them and we’ll supply them. Another way to get involved and spread the word is by e-mails. We send out the Desperado Hotline to all our members, you can pass this along to your friends and tell them what is going on with the club, also we like to here from our club members, if there is something you don’t like let us know, if there is something you do like then let us know too!.

Last year we had cash payouts instead of buckles with mixed results. With all the classes we cannot afford to give a compliment of buckles to all riders especially if there is only one in a class and only 25 riders at a match. It seems most riders like the buckles but also a cheap entry fee but you just can’t have both. Next year we plan on three buckle matches and then have some low cost practice and matches to help keep expenses at a minimum.

So let’s all get involved and make this the best year yet!!!
